Dear Members,

Season greetings from the Uganda Counseling Association Board!

Wishing you the best in the celebration of this season. I do recognize and applaud the current board for steering us this far to see UCA complete for yet another year.

As we reflect on 2024, we can all feel proud about our accomplishments in the past year. We have witnessed a 31% growth in membership, provided our support to communities in distress and taken active participation in National and International mental health initiatives. It is critical to note that each one of you has been at the center of making each UCA achievement possible. The success we have registered would not have been possible without your dedication and commitment. We recognize the advocacy that you have advanced at personal, group and institutional levels. I am hopeful that 2025 will be even better in terms of teamwork, linkages and advocacy.

Along the journey, we lost some of our members and I take this time to acknowledge the contribution made in their lifetime to the success of UCA. May their souls rest in peace. On the other hand, we recognize the addition of new members who have graduated with Diplomas, Bachelors Degrees, Masters and PhD. Such means that the profession’s human resources are gradually scaling.

When we get to a time like this, we need to reflect on the past but also posture ourselves for the new year. Our start of 2025 will begin with an envisioning for all of us as members, this I believe is a good way to start. I encourage us all to be part of this as we strategize, and plan our next moves. Like the African Proverb goes, if you want to go fast-go alone. If you want to go far, we go together!!

Additionally, there has been an outcry for the formalization of learning groups or communities of counsellors to learn, grow and share experiences to facilitate growth and build each other professionally. This is a key priority for the Board and we are in consideration of this as we look forward to structuring this in 2025. In order to be part of this, you need to keep your membership status up to-date. This enables us reach you with required information, get the best of your participation and provide the needed services. This is a call for you to update your personal information continually so that you can benefit from opportunities within the association.

Our offices will close from Monday 23rd December 2024 and will reopen on Monday 6th January 2025. The services of payments and inquiries can still go on using our MTN MoMo Merchant code:570342, Airtel number 0751 263 433 (Uganda Counselling Association) and email address counselingassn@gmail.com respectively. Be sure to keep your proof of payment for reference.

So as the calendar page turns to a new year, let me appreciate you all, Thank you for your continued dedication, loyalty and support. I look forward to a very successful year ahead with continued efforts to see professional counseling embraced. Let us all march into 2025 with pride in what we have accomplished and the drive to make the next year even more amazing.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025.

Yours truly,

ELIZABETH OKELLO.
