As we journey through Holy Week, we are invited to pause, reflect, and reconnect—with ourselves, with others, and with our faith. This is reflected in Psalms 46:10

“Stop fighting,” he says, “and know that I am God, supreme among the nations, supreme over the world.”
This sacred time reminds us that even in the face of suffering, hope is never lost. Just as Christ endured pain and sacrifice for love, we too can find strength and healing through grace, forgiveness, and compassion. The bible shows us what Jesus Christ went through in Isiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our sins, beaten that we might be whole, he was whipped, and we are healed!”.

The way of the cross and the passion gospel indicate this overwhelming moment but Jesus never gave up. The Gospel of St Matthew 27:46 typically indicates how Jesus was overwhelmed: “At about three o’clock, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ which means, ‘My God, my God, why have you deserted me?”  Many situations make us feel weary and sometimes we want to give up!

If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or burdened, know that you are not alone. And Jesus says “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28)

Holy Week teaches us that transformation often comes through trials. These however come as challenges to strengthen us in all spheres of life. “You may have to suffer grief in all kinds of trials for a little while. These trials come so that your faith may be proved genuine” (1 Peter 1:6–7)

Let this be a time to release what weighs heavy on your heart and open yourself to renewal. “Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Reach out if you need someone to talk to. There is strength in vulnerability and peace in being heard. “Help carry one another’s burdens, and in this way, you will obey the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2). Counsellors are ready to carry you through your troubles.

May this week bring you comfort, clarity, and the deep peace that comes from knowing you are loved.

Happy Easter, 2025
